Bonita Trust Funds Urgently Required Medical Equipment

 

ISRAEL. - 18th November 2008 - The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Centre, one of the largest hospitals in Israel, has recently been able to purchase urgently required medical equipment following a donation from the Bonita Trust.

 

With over 1100 beds, the Medical Centre is the city-hospital for Tel Aviv and is the national referral centre for several specialities, including trauma, adult neurosurgery, pediatric neurosurgery, orthopedic oncology, surgical oncology, kidney-pancreas and liver transplants, and microsurgery on the nervous system. The Medical Center offers unique treatments, not covered by the national health insurance programme, providing a much needed healthcare to the surrounding communities.


Ruth Parasol DeLeon, Member of Bonita’s Advisory Board explained: “Bonita is committed to helping communities address important healthcare challenges, where possible leveraging new technologies and the Internet, so is delighted to be supporting Laniado UK’s new website. We share the hope that this will help Laniado go from strength to strength, delivering real benefits to all the communities served by the hospital.”


Commenting on the donation, Professor Gabi Barbash stated "Equipment such as the Echo-Cardiogram is crucial to fast and effective diagnosis. We are grateful and thankful to the members of the Bonita Trust for their cooperation and support."


The Bonita Trust's healthcare support for the medical centre forms part of a broader programme of community-focused philanthropic activity in a number of countries around the world, and fits well with the Trust's central theme of facilitating health improvement. Outlining the Trust's healthcare support for the medical centre, Ruth Parasol de Leon said, "Bonita's work with the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Centre clearly demonstrates the Trust's commitment to both expanding and developing Bonita's philanthropic activity in Israel. We are delighted that Bonita's donation will bring tangible benefits to this invaluable hospital and the communities it serves."

The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Centre is one of the largest hospitals in the Israel, and has the major task of serving the 360,000 inhabitants of Tel Aviv, in addition to the more than one million people who enter the city every day for work and pleasure.


The Centre is spread out over an area of 150,000 m2 and incorporates three hospitals: Ichilov General Hospital and Ida Sourasky Rehabilitation Center, Lis Maternity Hospital, and Dana Children's Hospital; and also serves as a teaching and research centre affiliated with the Sackler Medical School and Tel Aviv University's Sheinborn Nursing School.
