Elem – The Association for Youth in Distress

The Bonita Trust is proud to provide Elem with financial assistance to support existing and future projects.Elem is a non-profit organisation for runaway, homeless and neglected Israeli and Arab youth in distress which operates its programs across all of Israel. It operates counselling and information centres located throughout Israel to offer a sympathetic ear, assistance and support for adolescence-related problems.

Its programs include outreach vans staffed by volunteers and professionals which go out at night reaching out to at-risk youth in the streets, suffering from alienation and/or exploitation.

Elem also operates a wide array of special programs for adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds, to assist them to integrate into society and yet preserve their cultural identity, whilst understanding the hardships unique to them. Amongst other activities, they also run drop-in centres for homeless youth, treatment and rehabilitation centres, and a national program providing opportunities for youth to undertake professional training in either a commercial firm or in the restaurant trade.
