Bonita contributes $500K for the employment of Arab, Druze and Bedouin minority citizens

Charitable trust

Bonita Trust further collaborates with JDC to fund relief of unemployment of disadvantaged Israeli minorities. Bonita’s donation will be overseen by Bonita’s Volunteer Project Coordinator, Richard Parasol.

Employment opportunities for Israeli minorities

Chronic unemployment is widespread among Arab, Druze and Bedouin communities in Israel. This project seeks to generate new jobs to enable these individuals to raise themselves out of poverty through gainful employment. This will be achieved by providing training for unemployed and under educated minority women and men and assistance with job placement. Educating local community leaders how to prepare their citizens for work, generate new jobs and deal with childcare and transportation issues.

JDC with Bonita’s support is also determined to fight social injustice and discrimination within employment sector by helping the minority college graduates win jobs that match their qualifications and offer fair compensation. Career counselling and support services will be available where minority college graduates will be able to receive advice and assistance with employment.

As a part of the project, JDC’s small business entrepreneurship program will assist ten minority entrepreneurs. Small businesses provide a vital role model of financial self-efficiency as it enables minority families to earn income within their own communities and creates jobs for others.

Ruth Parasol commented: “As a working woman I would like to see equal opportunities in the employment sector. I believe that everyone has a right to work and to be compensated equally regardless of gender, nationality or race. It is a sad reality that these factors still influence our modern society and affect our economy in an adverse manner.
