Bonita Trust established a scholarship fund for the clients of La Selva Group at Momentum for Mental Health.  The fund will help to pay for the costs of services for individuals not able to pay for all or part of their treatment at the clinic.  Services include outpatient, residential and supported housing.  The fund will be overseen by Bonita’s volunteer project coordinator, Richard Parasol.

Bonita Trust’s Scholarship Fund To Momentum For Mental HealthMomentum for Mental Health (Momentum) is the single largest provider of adult and transitional-age youth mental health services in Santa Clara County, having served more than 3,600 clients last year.  The staff, volunteers and clients of Momentum for Mental Health believe that people with a mental illness can lead rewarding, responsible and productive lives and make a valuable contribution to their communities. Momentum focuses on people’s strength, potential and competence and recognises hope as an important element in achieving recovery.

Ruth Parasol, the principal benefactor and founding member of Bonita Trust’s International Advisory Board commented “I believe that helping individuals unable to pay for services through a scholarship fund at La Selva Group program will deliver a much needed service to people affected by mental illness. I hope that Bonita Trust’s contribution will provide a model to ensure patients receive the appropriate treatment for mental illness in the future”.
