BONITA DONATES INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARDS TO GIBRALTAR’S CLASSROOMS

Charitable trust

The Bonita Trust has donated 79 smart interactive whiteboards to Gibraltar’s primary and middle schools at a total cost of £167,000, as part of its commitment to improve and increase technology as a tool for education.

Ruth Parasol DeLeon, of Bonita’s International Advisory Board, noted, “We are delighted to provide Gibraltar’s school children and teachers with these technological classroom aids. Evidence shows that the use of interactive whiteboards can have a profound effect on schools, teachers and pupils and that the use of the technology can transform lessons and make them more exciting.”

An interactive whiteboard (IWB) is a surface onto which a computer screen can be displayed, via a projector. It is touch-sensitive and lets you use a pen on it (or in some cases a finger) to act like a mouse, controlling the computer from the board itself. Changes made to information projected onto the whiteboard are transferred to the computer and can be saved and retrieved in future lessons. Whiteboards can help teachers deliver exciting and engaging lessons to children of all ages and abilities. They can deliver lessons interactively using a variety of methods including video clips, the internet, interactive presentations and colour visuals.
