XLP’s XL-R8 Community Bus Project

Fighting ChanceThe Bonita Trust has donated a new Community Bus as part of XLP’s XL-R8 Community Bus Project . The specially converted double-decker bus travels onto inner-London estates providing support to hundreds of children and young people and their families each week, as well as state of the art entertainment and counselling.

Patrick Regan, founder of XLP explains, “what I’ve realised is that no single person or organisation can address issues like this alone. Only by coming together and standing with each other can we expect change – can we give the next generation a fighting chance. We are incredibly grateful to the Bonita Trust for supporting us and making this project possible. What young people need are alternatives - that’s where projects like XLP come in. The XLP bus is a safe place to come, were you can get support and work with youth workers in setting goals for your life.”

Emblazoned down one side of the bus is the website address, www.fightingchance.me. The Bonita Trust has also partnered with XLP in creating this extraordinary website for young people (and designed by young people) living with the challenges of gang culture. The site provides information and help about resisting involvement in gangs and getting out.
